We are finally in the thick of Winter, and whether you love it or hate it, you kind of have to roll with it. I personally quite like the chilly Winter weather and the darker and cozier nights. Either way, winter is a time to switch up your skincare for something a little more protective and moisturising. Here are my winter skin care favourites this year.

Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Skin Protectant

This dream cream is an absolute hero and a skin care all-rounder. I tend to use this each night on my lips to stop them getting chapped, and also around my nose to soothe the skin if I have a bit of a cold, but it can be used pretty much anywhere to soothe, protect and moisturise the skin. I have to be honest, I cannot stand the smell of it which is why I tend to use it at night, but I can't argue with the results!

Fun fact, Elizabeth Arden used this cream to soothe her famous thoroughbred horses' legs, and it's name came from a loyal client's story, as she used the cream to treat her childs grazed knee, and apparently, eight hours later the skin was all better! Not too sure if I can believe that one...

Sarah Chapman Skinesis Intense Hydrating Booster

This stuff is heavenly! I tend to drop one or two drops of this into my palm and mix in with a facial oil or serum daily to keep my skin a little more hydrated and plump! The mixture of Hyaluronic Acid and Rosewater plumps and refreshes the skin and restores a little glow too! Through the winter months, I've been adding this to facial masks for extra hydration and sometimes spot-applying it on it's own to targeted areas. Although it is a little pricey, I absolutely love this stuff and I think it's totally worth it!

REN Wake Wonderful Night-Time Facial

Sally May Lewis Winter Skin Care Favourites 2015 REN Wake Wonderful Night Time Treatment
I tried this stuff months ago back in March from a tiny little tester pot I was given at a meeting with REN, before they had even got packaging for it and I fell in love. I then had to wait ages until the product was released to be able to get my hands on any more, but it was totally worth the wait - this one came in a Lookfantastic Beauty Box. I pop this on overnight when my skin is a little dull, and the next morning my skin looks so refreshed.

The blend of Glycolic and Lactic Acids from Yeast, Pineapple and Passionfruit help to brighten and refine skin tone, while Tocotrienols from Cranberry Seed Oil help to reduce UV damage and Omega 3 from Arctic Blackcurrant Seed Oil repairs and soothes the skin. Again, I wasn't too keen on the smell of this, but if i'm honest the results completely outweigh the scent!

First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Pads

These little pads are a new addition to my Winter skin care, and I think they're pretty likely to become a staple. They (like a lot of my favourites) contain Glycolic and Lactic Acids, but just a small amount - enough to make them effective but not too much, so that they're still safe for sensitive skin. I use these twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening, after cleansing and since using them for the past few weeks I have noticed my skin is tighter and feels more toned.

The key active ingredients (Lactic & Glycolic Acid, Indian Gooseberry, Lemon Peel, Licorice Root, and FAB Antioxidant Booster) aim to exfoliate, tone, brighten and combat free radicals, and although I don't entirely know what that last one means, I can definitely vouch for the first three!
